Your privacy is of the utmost importance to The Asheville Garden Club, Inc. (“our,” “we” or the “Garden Club”) and we are committed to protecting your personally identifiable information. When you visit our website, www.ashevillegarden.club (the “Website”), there is a form on the “Contact” page that allows you to contact the Garden Club with questions or comments. Should you choose to contact us, you are required to provide us with your name and e-mail address. The provision of this information is not required to use our Website and is provided entirely voluntarily. We will use the information that you provide to us in this form to respond to your questions or comments. If you e-mail us, please be aware that e-mail is not necessarily secure or confidential. Send only the information that is necessary for us to answer your question or process your request.

Information Collected “Off-line” & How We Use It

Should you decide to become a member of the Garden Club you will need to fill out a membership application and pay a membership fee. Some personally identifiable information may be obtained by the Garden Club as part of this process.

Membership Application. As part of the application process we may obtain information such as your name, telephone number, address, and e-mail address. This information enables us to contact you about Garden Club events, meetings, cancellations, projects, provide you with the Garden Club Yearbook, newsletters, and more. Membership applications are kept with the Garden Club’s Membership Officer as part of the organization’s official records. Only the Board of Directors and Officers have access to the applications. You may opt out of e-mail communications by sending an e-mail with your request to ashevillegardenclub@gmail.com.

Membership Fee. A membership fee is required to participate in the Garden Club. In order to process payments, we may obtain your name, telephone number, address, e-mail address, debit/credit card or other financial information. Membership fees are processed by the Garden Club, not a third party. The Membership Officer and members of the Board of Directors have the authority to process payments.

Who We Share Your Information With & How We Keep It Safe

The Garden Club is affiliated with the North Carolina Garden Club, Inc. (the “NC Garden Club”) and all new member information is provided to the NC Garden Club as a requirement of that affiliation. We have guest speakers and often work/volunteer with other organizations in the community (“affiliates”) who may request or need your information to provide members with a more valuable experience, to fulfill or complete documentation required by their organizations, or for other purposes. The Garden Club respects and safeguards your privacy and will not provide your information to affiliates unless it reasonable under the circumstances.

Club Yearbook – Every year all new members are added to the Club Yearbook and the new Yearbook is distributed to all members. The Yearbook contains a list of all member names, year a person became a member, their address, phone number, email address, and birth date.

We will not share your personal information with non-affiliate third parties except 1) as necessary for us to provide membership services to you, 2) when it is reasonably necessary to comply with the law and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order or legal process, 3) to protect the safety of our members, guests, volunteers, or property, 4) as part of the transition of business to another entity by way of a merger, sale or asset transfer, corporate separation or otherwise, or 5) with your express consent.

Special Information about Postings and Photos

If you are a member of the Garden Club, you may have the opportunity to submit photographs

and articles written by you for Board approval to be published on our website that may contain personal information. By submitting this information and photographs, you give us permission to publish this information on the Website. Please remember that by allowing us to post information or photographs on the public portion of the Website, you are making this information available to the general public.

We Protect Children's Privacy

The Garden Club will not knowingly collect or solicit personally identifiable information from or about children under 13 years of age except as permitted by law.

The Garden Club may include links on our Website to other websites whose content we believe will be of possible help, interest or value to our visitors.
